I love writing. Love it, love it, love it.
Alternatively, I hate it, hate it, hate it.
Go figure. I'm not usually that mercurial, but any of you who have ever struggled with even one of those "What I did Last Summer" school essays know what I mean when I say writing can be pretty darned hard. But that's not to say it's not worth the struggle. I'm always delighted when I think I've come up with something worthwhile, no matter how agonizing the process. The way I see it, I'm lucky enough to have this smidgen of talent, and I should use it, because my other talent is singing in the shower. And let's face it, shower singing just doesn't pay that much.
I write romance because it makes me happy. Pretty simple, huh? I enjoy writing complex characters who have complex reactions to layered situations. I like my heros, I like my heroines and I really like the chemistry between them.
I try to write the kinds of books I would want to read. I don't want a sissy, prissy heroine, and I don't want a hero who just grunts and parries and thrusts and beats up bad guys. I want the girl to do that. I try to convey an emotionally moving story with multi-faceted people who have real faults and glorious strengths that triumph over all. I want to care about what happens to them, and I want you to care, too. I hope you like them.
