Kimberly Chapman was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and raised in the nearby suburb of Whitby. She was identified as a gifted child and partook in special high-level education through to the end of high school, winning several awards for high grades, writing, and community involvement along the way.
She graduated summa cum laude from Carleton University in Ottawa in 1994, with a double major degree in Journalism and Anthropology. A story title “Three for Three” written for a class called “Anthropology and Science Fiction” won the class award, and is available for free at kimberlychapman.com. After university she worked a variety of odd jobs until finally landing a position as a technology reporter for Network World Canada.
Kimberly met her husband, Dr. Corran Webster, online as both had been avid Internet users since long before most people had even heard of it. Since he was teaching and researching mathematics at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, she decided to join him there and leave her reporting job behind.
Kimberly currently works for an environmental organization called Citizen Alert, running their website, database, and anything else involving computers. On the side, she runs her own website, does crafts, and is an avid role-playing gamer in games such as Dungeons and Dragons. She considers herself a hippie geek.
