Theresa Michaels (Theresa DiBenedetto) first Harlequin Historical, A Corner of Heaven (12/91) won both a K.I.S.S. (Knight in Shining Silver) and Best Civil War Romance Awards from Romantic Times. Gifts of Love followed with another K.I.S.S. and was honored with a National Readers Choice Award and the B. Dalton Booksellers Award for Best-selling Series Historical. Fire and Sword, her first medieval published to acclaim by reviewers, won another K.I.S.S. award, the Puget Sound Readers Choice for Favorite Medieval of 1994, and the Virginia Romance Writers H.O.L.T. (Honoring Outstanding Literary Talent) award. With the publication of the Kincaid Trilogy, Romantic Times honored her with three more K.I.S.S. awards, making one for every Theresa Michaels book. She is published in Norway, Sweden, France, Italy, England, Holland, Russia, Brazil, and Germany.
In addition to her historical romance novels written under Theresa Michaels, she writes as Raine Cantrell and Theresa DiBenedetto. She has garnered praise from reviewers, booksellers and readers as well as numerous awards for every book published. As Cantrell, her books are published in China, Germany, Norway and Romania. Best known for love and laughter stories as well as several novellas for St. Martin’s Press, Cantrell’s latest are Chocolate Kisses (2/97) which follows the success and the re-release of For The Love of Chocolate (5/96).
When not researching or writing, she rescues stray cats, grows roses and creates potpourri along with mastering the art of using herbs for healing. She collects old western newspapers and maps, finding them invaluable in her work.
Combining a love of history and reading, with a strong belief in the power of love, drew her to write romances.
