Gail Martin (aka Gail Gaymer Martin) - multi-published, award-winning novelist Gail Martin writes inspirational romance as Gail Gaymer Martin for Steeple Hill and Barbour and traditional "sweet" romance as Gail Martin for Silhouette Romance. She is published freelance in hundreds of articles as well as worship resource books with CSS, Contemporary Drama, Educational Ministries, Standard, and others.
Before retiring in 1995, she worked as a high school teacher, then a guidance counselor at Madison High School. In 1996, Gail became an adjunct English instructor for Davenport University, Warren campus until her writing and conferences and workshop teaching became a full-time job.
In 1998, Gail sold her first inspirational romance novel. Since then, she has received contracts for sixteen novels and five novellas. She has also sold eighteen non-fiction books and hundreds of freelance articles and short stories.
CHRISTMAS THREAD, a Barbour anthology, including Gail's novella, published in August 2000 reached #8 on the Christian Booksellers Association Best Seller list and was purchased as a Doubleday Crossing Book Club selection. Once Upon A Time which included her novella also made the CBA Best Seller list. Home For Christmas, her 2001 Christmas anthology has also been picked up by Crossing.
UPON A MIDNIGHT CLEAR, Gail's first Love Inspired novel, was a 2001 Holt Medallion recipient and was a finalist for the National Readers' Choice Award. Steeple Hill praised the book as having achieved an incredible net sale rate. Her 2001 Silhouette Romance Release, Her Secret Longing, is a finalist in the Bookseller's Best Award.
Besides writing novels and church resource materials, Gail writes for The Christian Communicator and romance columnist for ezine, The Spirit-Led Writer.
She is a member of Romance Writers of American, including: Great Detroit, Mid-Michigan, and Faith Hope & Love RWA chapters; a member of American Christian Writers and a founding-board member of ACRW (American Christian Romance Writers).
In her spare time, Gail enjoys speaking engagements, presenting writer's workshops, traveling, singing with the Detroit Lutheran Singers, and being active at her home congregation in Madison Heights where her family has been charter members since 1948. A past resident of Royal Oak, she lives in Lathrup Village with her husband, Bob Martin, her proofreader and romantic hero.
