Kathryn Davis is a relatively obscure author, although she doesn't deserve to be. Part of it may be her relatively intimidating choice of topics: the history of opera, the French Revolution, Napoleon's chef, Welsh myth. It is also perhaps partially due to half of her books not being available in paperback.
Kathryn Davis is the recipient of a Kafka Prize for fiction by an American woman and the 1999 Morton Dauwen Zabel Award, American Academy of Arts and Letters.
