One September, a ballet-crazy young girl in braids arrived, wide-eyed, in London, England. Brenda had traveled by ship from South Africa to take up a place at the Royal Ballet School. Four years later, having grown too tall, she kissed that idea goodbye and sailed south to encounter the next big adventure in her life — romance! She was only 17 and in her first week of her Bachelor of Arts studies when she met her husband-to-be. Before very long she turned into a harried mother of four who hardly found time to read, let alone pursue her new dream of becoming an author.
Brenda's had a full life — of gardening (healthy organic veggies for those kids); opera-going (all that drama and emotion); and philosophical and spiritual explorations (part of her inner and outer journeying). She tried teaching, and modeling, but neither of those quite did it for her...and there was still that suppressed desire to write.
Then one day a troubadour from the Bronx came along. She attended one of his workshops, and the floodgates opened. Words, phrases, sentences, paragraphs sprang forth. Since then, happily settled in Canada, Brenda's been off on a merry new dance, into the world of writing romantic comedy.
