[From Ms. Kingsley's web page..]

At a young age, Katherine Kingsley set herself three goals: to have a child, to plant a tree, and to write a book. She has accomplished all three. Although she admits the tree was planted upside down, her other two endeavors have met with more success. She has one son, Alexander, and eleven published novels to her credit, with the 12th coming as a lead title from Dell in April, 1997

Kingsley, whose books regularly appear on the bestseller lists, began writing in 1984, sold her three manuscripts on first submission in 1986, and was first published in 1988. In 1988 she was nominated for Romantic Times’ Reviewers Choice Award for Romantic Adventure. In 1990 A NATURAL ATTACHMENT was given a Reviewers Choice Award for Best Regency Romance of the year as well as a Special Achievement Award. In 1992 NO GREATER LOVE, the first of an historical trilogy, won the Reviewers Choice Award for Best British Set Historical and was one of Bookrak’s (The Paperback Bookclub of America) Bestselling Historical Romances that year. Romantic Times heralded the sequel, NO SWEETER HEAVEN, as “a dazzling emotional masterpiece...a book that comes along once in a lifetime and defies the traditional ratings system.” It won the Reviewers Choice Award for Best Historical Romance of 1993, another Bookrak Award for Bestselling Historical Romance of 1993, and was also a Romance Writers of America Golden Choice Finalist for 1994.

Romantic Times said of the third of the historical trilogy, “NO BRIGHTER DREAM is a miracle and Katherine Kingsley is the miracle worker, a writer who understands the map of the human heart. Become a part of the magic--read this masterpiece.” It received the first Gold Medal for Outstanding Achievement rating ever given. NO BRIGHTER DREAM was nominated for a Reviewers Choice Award for Best Historical Romance of 1994, and Kingsley received a 1994 Romantic Times Career Achievement Award in Historical Adventure. Kingsley was also a finalist in the Romance Writers of America’s 1995 RITA competition, the organization’s highest award for published writers.

A direct descendent of John Jay, Kingsley grew up concurrently between New York City, Charleston, South Carolina, and London, England. She later lived in Jamaica, where she was a modern dancer in the nationally known Neville Black Dance Company. She ultimately settled eighteen years ago in Vail, Colorado where she became that town’s first female firefighter. Kingsley and her husband return every year to England and their family home in France. They also travel yearly to the Mediterranean. They spend their remaining time in their home on a mountaintop with two Jack Russell terriers, a very large cat and a yellow-naped Amazon parrot called Arthur.

Kingsley has appeared on numerous radio programs as well as national television programs such as CBS This Morning, Entertainment Tonight, and the CBS Evening News.
