I live in Australia’s beautiful Hunter Valley (where the best wine in the world is produced) and I write historical romances because it’s a genre that I continue to love since discovering it when I was twelve years old. The many hours I spent wrapped around a Georgette Heyer, a Victoria Holt, or a Rogers or a Woodiwiss are still happy memories. With a postgraduate degree specialising in the Nineteenth Century novel – (naughty lady novelists who made Victorian hearts beat faster) – and a fascination for all things Gothic, it seemed only natural I should want to write novels with a Regency or a Victorian setting. Genealogy tells me my ancestors were Irish paupers and English criminals – but if I had lived in the past, I’d have dreamt of wearing the silk gowns and dancing the waltz anyway!
Favourite memory – the last time I was surrounded by friends and family. Last night, I think.
