Writing has always been important to Donna Lea Simpson, but for most of her early years it took a back seat to reading, especially mystery novels. From the age of twelve she was addicted to Agatha Christie, Dorothy L. Sayers and Ngaio Marsh — blame her mother for that — and then moved on to Sue Grafton and Sara Paretsky.
Mysteries are still a favorite, but at some point she began reading Regency romances, and to date has read hundreds.
So it was a proud moment when Zebra agreed to publish her first Regency with them, Lord St. Claire’s Angel in December of 1999. Garnering five star reviews on Amazon.com and a four star review on The Romance Reader web sites, as well as the coveted Desert Island Keeper status at the All About Romance review website, Lord St. Claire’s Angel was followed in August 2000 by Lady Delafont’s Dilemma and in February of 2001 by Lady May’s Folly.
Since then she has written many more, and plans a full-length historical romance set in the Regency soon, as well as a murder mystery series.
In her spare time, Donna likes reading, of course, as well as watercolor painting, singing karaoke, walking and bicycling. She loves cats, especially her 16 year-old part - Persian, Noel. Another favorite pastime is answering mail and e-mail from readers.
Donna Simpson also wrote romance eBooks under the pen-name: Charlotte Bennett.
