April Asbury has come to Fertile, Missouri, to work for the town doctor, Todd Forbes. She ends up on the doorstep of Joe Jones, who’s instantly smitten with the young nurse. Neither he nor April suspected they would be involved in the towns dark secret, that had been kept undercover for ten years.
In a room behind a locked door a woman opened a ledger and began to read. An hour later, she was to angry to cry. Her late husband had admitted to the rape of 57 young women and girls. Twenty of the encounters had resulted in pregnancy. His notes made it clear that he preferred a challenge and thoroughly enjoyed stalking the women and girls he had chosen to have his children.
In a note written in 1917 he explained his compulsion to rape. "I will sow my seed in young females, and leave behind a part of myself when I leave this earth that will go on and on into the future."
The Jones family banded together to protect one of their own, hoping to prevent another tragedy.
