Review for Treasuring Theresa
Author: Susana Ellis
Date of Review: 03/10/13

Reviewer Comments: He cannot bring himself to associate with the country bumpkins. She cannot abide the swells even though she is an Earl’s daughter. But both should never judge a book by its cover.

Damian Ashby, Viscount Clinton, is the heir to the Earl of Granville. He is the current Earl’s distant cousin. Damian is also the man about town and scorns the country bumpkins as not being up to ton standards. He finds himself, due to family obligation at a country ball and is the highest ranking member of the ton. It is at the ball that he meets Theresa, the daughter of the Earl.

Theresa has a point to prove that she isn’t really interested in the man who announces his betrothal to another at the ball so she flirts with Damian to try and hide her hurt. Theresa scorns the so called swells but is willing to put that aside if Damian notices her at the ball.

Damian visits the estate and thinks that marrying Theresa would be going too far and only requires her to show him the workings of the estate he will one day manage. Damian is slowly drawn into village life and realizes that Theresa is not the brainless twit he thought she was at their first meeting. He eventually proposes marriage and does it badly but he is fortunate that the second time she accepts him.

This is an Ellora’s Cave Quickie. The author has to tell the story of the characters in a very short space. This is done successfully by Ms Ellis as she able to convey the disdain for each other of Damian and Theresa and yet turn it around so that Damian’s opinion is swayed to the look favorably upon Theresa.
