Adrienne Giordano offers up a book that will break your heart and then mend it. She tackles some pretty intense situations in her novel, but throughout it all, the power of love manifests and helps ease the pain. Adrienne Giordano writes with emotion and heart.
Peter Jessup is a former Navy SEAL who now works for Taylor Security. He has dealt with his share of tragedy, but after losing two of his best friends within the past year, his boss forces him to take a month off to deal with the emotions. Peter doesn’t know what to do with himself. He has always been a man of action and likes to be busy. It doesn’t help that his training has him seeing terrorists behind every bush and potted plant. When the call comes for him to do a favor and set up a security protocol for a friend, Peter takes the job. What he doesn’t expect is to be so attracted to the woman he is working for.
Isabelle DeRosa works as a defense lawyer for her uncle’s New Jersey law firm. She enjoys being a lawyer and has worked really hard to overcome the secrets of her past and to live a “normal” life. When the monster from her past returns, she turns to a longtime family friend for security help. What Isabelle doesn’t expect is for a simple security system to turn into something so much more and when her cousin is murdered for her to become the number one suspect.
I should warn readers that there are some situations and incidents that make this book hard to read at times. Ms. Giordano writes with such feeling that we want to help the women in the book who are made into victims. I will say that these difficult scenes need to be part of the book in order for the story to be told and that their purpose is clear in the end. This book would not have been so powerful without the difficult situations. I know that is vague, but I don’t want to spoil it for other readers.
The combination of suspense as Isabelle and Peter try to find out who murdered her cousin as well as the romance that fires up between them creates a heady novel. They have sparks from the first time they meet and they are the perfect fit for each other. As you get to know them, you will agree that Ms. Giordano has created the quintessential leading man and woman in this book. Everything and everyone fits together like puzzle pieces to make this story simply wonderful.
