Donna Alward starts off her new series with a wonderful story about missed opportunities and second chances. This book has wonderful characters and plenty of romance. There is also a little bit of the unknown. Laurel Stone has returned to her hometown after a divorce that left her disconcerted. She opens a garden center to showcase her love of flowers and growing things. One of the nice things about moving home is reconnecting with her childhood best friend. One of the not so nice things is seeing the boy who broke her heart in high school as a man. Well, watching him is a treat since he has grown up to be quite handsome. Unfortunately, seeing him again brings back memories of her high school humiliation. When her garden center is the victim of a robbery and graffiti, she finds herself spending more time with him than she bargained for. Aiden Gallagher is a police officer in his hometown. He wishes that his job were a little more challenging because he wants to make sure that he is helping people. He has always felt overshadowed by the expectations that his family has for him. Aidan is glad to see Laurel back in town since he hopes to make amends for what happened between them in high school. Neither Aiden nor Laurel is sure what to do with their new relationship or the amount of time that they are spending together. They find that all of the old feelings are coming back and now they have to figure out how to forgive and move on. They also have to figure out who has targeted Laurel’s business. I did enjoy the book. Having Laurel and Aiden cope with a misunderstanding from high school made it interesting. They have to go back to those feelings and deal with them before being able to move on. Adding in the vandalism and robbery also inserts a little bit of suspense to the story as well.
