Reviewer Comments:

1898 Cheyenne, Wyoming

In Chicago, Eliza Lowe receives a telegram from her frantic best friend Eileen Caroni pleading for help. The pregnant Eileen informs Eliza that the law is going to arrest her husband Francis for murder and requests $1,000 to be brought to them in an undisclosed area in Wyoming.

Eliza doesn't hesitate to jump to the aid of her friend and prepares for her journey to Wyoming. However, Eliza's Aunt Vi arranges, over her niece's objections, to have a Pinkerton Agent accompany her. Not only is it a long distance but Eliza will be carrying a large sum of money and Aunt Vi believes she will need protection. Case Brogan originally wanted no part of the case until his boss Assistant Chief Riley discloses who Eileen's husband is - Francis Caroni, the man who killed his father!

They set out on their journey, both having their own agendas in wanting to find Francis Caroni. Throughout the course of their travels the two fall in love, but don't think it happens as easy as that! These two charming characters have wonderful chemistry from beginning to the end.

I particularly enjoyed the beginning of the book which opens with the telegram message. It was an immediate draw into the story and a clever opening.

BELOVED PROTECTOR is both a western and a suspense romance, so if you enjoy both you are in for a wonderful read. The story is quick paced and great fun! I will be looking out for Linda O'Brien's next book with anticipation.
