Kelly Jamieson’s second novel in her Last Shot series continues her story about three SEALs who start a tequila bar. She explores the relationships between the men as well as the women who come into their lives. Her story is full of heart. Carrie Garner works as a model, but knows that her time in the industry is running out. Carrie is looking for something else to do and so she applies for a scholarship to study photography in Spain. Part of the reason that she wants to make a change is that her best friend is now engaged and spending a lot of time with her fiancé. Carrie finds herself hanging out a lot with her best friend’s fiance’s friends and partners at their tequila bar. She finds the flirtation of Marco to be an annoyance because she doesn’t believe that he is really interested. Marco Solis has noticed Carrie, but for some reason she doesn’t seem interested in his advances. Marco takes her rejection in stride since he has been left by almost everyone in his life except for his friends. Planning an engagement party for his buddy and his fiancée means spending more time with Carrie. This opportunity could be a great way to get to know her and maybe change their relationship. Marco and Carrie both have a lot of baggage. They are not the confident people that they appear from the outside and they are looking for someone who understands them. Carrie only has a few weeks before leaving for Spain so any relationship they have will be short lived. I really liked these two characters. They both have struggles, but they still try to do their best to make life better and easier for their friends. They are good people who are working to do their best. There is so much more to them than appears at first sight. I didn’t read the first book in the series and didn’t need to in order to enjoy this one. There is plenty of hot sex and romance for everyone. This book is delightful and I am looking forward to seeing what happens in the next one.
