I loved this book by Amelia Grey. She kicks off her newest series with some delightful characters. I can only imagine what is in store for the rest of the characters as the series continues. I can’t wait to see what happens next. Benedict Mercer, Duke of Griffin, doesn’t really think about the trouble he and his best friends caused years ago or the scandal that resulted from a bet. He has moved on and does his own thing. Unfortunately, the scandal is rearing its head again since his twin sisters are to make their debut this season. When Griffin learns that someone has threatened to ruin his sisters, he knows that he must take action. Finding a suitable chaperone is a priority since his aunt is unwell and cannot take the girls out on her own. Becoming attracted to the woman he hires is not optimal, but he will just have to stay away. Esmeralda Swift runs Miss Fortescue’s Employment Agency since the original Miss Fortescue has passed away. She enjoys her job although the monetary compensation is not what she thought it would be. That is why when the Duke arrives and offers her the job of chaperoning his sisters, she takes the job despite her hesitations and reservations. Now Esmeralda has to fight her growing attraction to a man she cannot have while still maintaining her secrets. Griffin and Esmeralda are a great pair. They spark off of each other immediately and we can see that they belong together. Watching them try to figure out their feelings as well as squiring a matched set of twins around to all the balls is quite enjoyable. Adding in the suspense of who is out to cause a scandal for the twins and the secrets that Esmeralda is keeping makes the story just that much more interesting. We do learn what is going on and are not left hanging. The story moves along fairly quickly which helps keep the momentum going. Ms. Grey doesn’t allow the story to slow down.
