Shelli Stevens’ new book is scorching hot. Fair warning, there is a lot of sex in this book and Ms. Stevens describes everything. She knows how to keep the story moving as she explores the relationship between her main characters. Madison Phillips has recently broken up with her boyfriend and opened a coffee shop called Ooo La Latte. She thinks things are going pretty well, but she does miss having a man in her life. Madison is looking for a transition man who can help her over the hump. Seeing her brother’s best friend and knowing that he doesn’t do relationships may just make him the perfect man to help her out. Gabriel Martinez is a police officer and Madison’s brother’s best friend. Gabe thinks of Madison as a little sister until he meet up with her at a party and realizes that she has grown up. Although he is attracted to her, Gabe refuses Madison’s offer of a transition relationship. When Madison is in danger, Gabe has to step in and keep her safe. Being in close quarters makes it harder for him to refuse her. The relationship between Gabe and Madison heats up quickly as they spend more time together. Watching them figure out how to work out their differences and figure out what they each want in a relationship is intriguing. Gabe has his own baggage from his past and Madison is trying to start up a business on her own. Their lifestyles are completely different. Building in the suspenseful element of Madison being in danger adds something to the story. It gives Gabe and Madison a reason to spend time together without risking the relationship Gabe has with her brother. It also adds a depth to their relationship and makes them both question what they want out of a relationship.
