Susan Mallery’s conclusion to her Lone Star Sisters series is a delightful read. This final book brings everything full circle and provides a satisfying ending for her fans. The resolution to the battle between Jed Titan and his daughters has been a long time coming, but readers will both rejoice at the ending and mourn the conclusion of this wonderful series.
Dana Birch has been a lifelong friend to the Titan sisters and considers them family. They stood by her and helped her out when things were rough at home. Now they are being threatened by a half brother, Garth Duncan, they knew nothing about. Dana vows to do what ever she can to protect the Titan sisters and willingly uses her connections in law enforcement to help out. Then Izzy Titan changes her mind about Garth and Dana struggles to figure things out.
Garth began his quest to ruin the Titans by including everyone in the family in his revenge. As he has gotten to know his sisters and his father, Garth has realized that his sisters are also innocent victims of his father’s ambition and lack of feelings. When Izzy offers to teach him how to be part of a family and begins to shower him with affection, Garth isn’t sure how to handle it. Then Dana becomes his shadow as Skye and Lexi try to make sure his good intentions are real. As Garth spends more time with Dana, he realizes that he has feelings for her and their attraction begins to grow.
I loved this story. The entire series has been a joy to read and the characters develop with each installment. This one was the best yet. I love how the tension between Dana and Garth altered as they spent time together. I also like that Ms. Mallery allowed Garth to grow and become a better human being throughout the four books in the series. Garth and Dana are similar in their approaches to love and the traumas that they suffered in childhood that required them to grow up more quickly than others. These similarities make their relationship believable and successful.
Ms. Mallery has a way of telling as story that stays with the reader long after the book is finished. The Titan sisters are women whom we feel we know. Throughout the series, we have rooted for them to find a way to make Garth stop tormenting them and trying to ruin the businesses that they have worked so hard to build. This final story brings that situation to a close. We understand Garth’s motives and in this story he is portrayed as a human being with feelings and not just a monster motivated by revenge.
Definitely a must read for fans of the series! If you haven’t read the other three books, these are best read in order although they don’t have to be. I think you will enjoy them as much as I have.
