Reviewer Comments: Carrie Woods is trying to determine her thesis topic when she overhears a conversation between her best friend and her friend’s boyfriend. This leads Carrie to China where she stumbles on the Scrolls of Destiny. Carrie is a fairly open person and does not like the secrecy she has to maintain regarding the scrolls. She is trying to read them but is caught and has to take the scrolls with her back to America. She has the scrolls with her at all times to protect them. She cautiously tells her supervisor that she has a source with the scrolls. Carrie’s knowledge of the scrolls places her life in danger from two directions. She then finds herself in the center of attacks.

Maximilian Prescott is an extremely wealthy man who is known as Bai Hu with an unrivalled private collection of Asian antiquities. He has also spent time in a monastery in China. He notices Carrie and her actions and is then instructed he must get the scrolls back. He returns to America and asks Carrie to complete a translation from his collection so he can gain access to the scrolls. He does not count on being attracted to Carrie. After observing Carrie, he realizes she knows his arch enemy and he thinks they are working together against him. Yet another reason for him to keep his distance from her, if he can.

Max and Carrie come together over their knowledge of the Scrolls of Destiny. Max wanting to return them to the monastery and Carrie to translate and use them as the basis of her thesis. Naturally this provides plenty of conflict and deception between the pair. There comes the time when they come together as the chemistry between them proves too much. Max comes to understand himself and that he was hiding himself for too many years. He is willing to accept his enemy’s help to find the person stalking Carrie.

This story flows well and the reader will not be stalled at any point as the action and passion flow. Max and Carrie are a couple who are suited and destined to be together. The stalker is not necessarily readily apparent which can add to the enjoyable plot. Added into Carrie’s life is her mother who is the opposite of Carrie and likes to send her sex toys and condoms especially when her mother finds out what a looking man Max is. The mix of characters is also well suited to this story. I look forward to the next instalment.
