Review for Wilde Thing (ebook)

Reviewer Comments: I love the Wilde series by Jannine Gallant. Each story has a compelling hero and a wonderful heroine. Yes, her characters find themselves in dangerous situations, but the women are not helpless. They do just as much as the men to figure out what is going on and how to save themselves. Tripp Wilde is the youngest Wilde brother and may just be the most extreme. He loves skiing in remote areas and the wilder the trail, the better. Have a slew of beautiful groupies hanging around him is not a hardship either. All of that comes crashing down, literally, when he is taken out by an avalanche during a competition. Fortunately, his injures are not that severe. He just needs rest and some physical therapy. His sister’s best friend seems just the person to help him get back on his feet. Hannah Ryder runs a successful physical therapy business. Her skills are requested by many famous professional athletes to help them recover from sport injuries. She is shocked when she witnesses her best friend’s brother being taken out by an avalanche. Hannah is even more shocked to realize that her college crush on Tripp hasn’t gone anywhere. Now she has to remain professional while helping him to recover. Added to the tension between two good looking people who spend a lot of time together, Hannah and Tripp witness what they think is a murder. After reporting what they saw, they begin to have some scary and nearly fatal accidents. Now they have to figure out who might be after them and how to stop them before something tragic happens. I loved watching the relationship between Tripp and Hannah build. We know about Hannah’s prior crush, but he doesn’t (at least at first). They already knew each other since they have Tripp’s sister in common. Being forced to be together as Tripp heals allows them to get to know each other in a different way as adults. I also liked the premise behind the suspense. We don’t know if they saw a murder for sure or who is after them until later in the book. I liked that there are a multitude of suspects and Ms. Gallant makes sure to keep us guessing. I will say that some of the revelations at the end with the perpetrator were not necessary and did not add to the book. There were other ways that the reasons/background of the perpetrator could have been handled without resorting to that particular detail. Sorry for being vague, but I want to make sure I don’t give away any spoilers. This story may be the third in the series, but they can each be read on their own. I am looking forward to seeing what happens next in this series.
